The “Amazonia for Life: Protect 80% by 2025” Initiative invites to the press conference:
Amazonia against the clock: How Indigenous territories save the planet
WHAT: Within the framework of the work of the UN Biodiversity COP15 talks, Amazonian Indigenous leaders, researchers and representatives of environmental organizations will present key findings about How Indigenous territories save the planet, with the support of the report “Amazonia Against the Clock: Where and How to Protect 80% by 2025.” Amazonia has reached its tipping point and current biodiversity talks need to address this scenario.
This research exposes where and how the degradation and transformation of the Amazonia occur at the country level, as well as its drivers, and presents immediate solutions to address the crisis in this biodiverse region, as an urgent measure to save at least 50% of the biodiversity before 2030.
WHEN: Wednesday 14th, 2022, 5 pm Montreal time.
WHERE: Media Center, room 220D, 2nd floor, at the Palais des Congrès, Montreal, 1001 Pl. Jean-Paul-Riopelle, Montréal, QC H2Z 1H5.
