UN Permanent Forum adopts call of Amazonian Indigenous Peoples to protect at least 80% of the region by 2025
In the final resolutions of the 22nd session of the Forum, held from April 17 to 28, the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues recognizes that the current levels of degradation and deforestation put the region at imminent risk of tipping point. no return and urges the Amazon States to recognize 100 million hectares of indigenous territories in order to protect 80% of the region by 2025.
